If you’re in need of a good cable railing tensioner set to use with wooden posts, we have a great option for you right here. They’re made of type 316 steel so you can install them both indoors and out. We’ve had customers use them on both commercial and residential installs. The lag screw terminal will anchor one end while the tensioner pulls and holds from the opposite side.
There are two different tools you’ll need as you begin installing. These are swage fittings so a hand swaging tool will be needed in order to secure the wire and hardware together. Then you’ll need a good Cable Cutter Tool to cut your lengths as you go along. If you would prefer working with a tool that does both jobs, we have a 24″ Cutting / Swaging Tool which does great work. Always double check your work before cutting or swaging because those actions can’t be undone.
3/16″ stainless steel cable with a 1×19 configuration is what we recommend to customers. Once installed it gives off a nice even shine during the day and under the lights at night. It’s also a great configuration because it isn’t rough on the hands if you grab it.
