Dome Head End Cable Rail Fittings for 3/16″ Cable – Swage – T316 Stainless Steel

These cable rail fittings with a dome head are commonly use with metal and aluminum railing posts. You will need to have a tensioner on the opposite end to tighten the cable. They’re made of type 316 steel so you can use them in humid areas without having to worry about rusting. Customers have used them on commercial and residential projects. We’ve also seen them on indoor and outdoor applications.

Common tensioners that previous customers have purchase with these cable rail fittings would be our Threaded Tensioners (https://sa-materials.com/p/swage-threaded-stainless-cable-tensioner-used-on-3-16-inch-cable-railings/)  and Threaded Rod Turnbuckle (https://sa-materials.com/p/1-4-inch-threaded-rod-and-swage-stud-for-3-16-inch-wire-rope-stainless-cable-tensioner/) . You’re of course welcome to mix and match hardware you like the look of. A hand swaging tool will be need during the install in order to fasten the cable and hardware together. You will need a Cable Cutter Tool as well. For anyone who is in need of both tools, our 24″ Swager / Cutter (https://sa-materials.com/p/steel-cable-crimper-cable-cutter-tool-for-1-8-inch-and-3-16-inch-wire-rope-fittings/)  is a great option. Remember that the cutting and swaging steps can’t be undone so always double check your work.

These cable rail fittings are designed to be used with 3/16″ wire rope. There are a number of different construction options but if you’re installing a cable railing system, we recommend 1×19. It has a nice even shine during the day and under lights at night. You’ll find it’s not rough to the touch either which we find important on a handrail.
