Steel Wire Tensioner Set with Toggle for 1/8″ Cable – Type 316 Stainless
With this steel wire tensioner set, you can install straight or angled runs. On one end you will have the swage rigging toggle that just anchors the cable. Then for the tensioner will be installed on the opposite end. When you’re ready, the tensioner’s job is to tighten and hold the cable. The T316 steel they’re made from allows you to install them indoors and/or out. A great thing about stainless steel is it won’t rust, even if you live right next to the ocean.
As you prepare for the installation, you’ll want to be sure you have the right tools for the job. Swage fittings such as these require a steel cable crimping tool. First you slide cable into the fitting as far as it’ll go, next you swage 3 times on the same fitting to ensure a solid hold. Be sure you also have a proper cable cutter tool as well – It won’t flatten the cable as you cut and should leave you with a nice clean end. Good cuts make getting cable into the fitting a breeze.
When it comes to cable railing systems, there are different wire options to choose from. These fittings require 1/8″ diameter cable. 1×19 configuration fits the hardware the best. It also looks great up close and isn’t rough to the touch either.
