Stemball Swage Terminal for 3/16″ Cable – Type 316 Stainless Steel

When it comes to anchoring cable on wooden posts, this swage terminal of ours does a great job. It is a fitting that just about disappears once installed. Because it’s made of T316 steel you won’t experience any rusting no matter where it ends up. You can use them on both indoor and outdoor projects. We’ve seen customers of ours use this swage terminal on residential along with commercial applications.

Remember this swage terminal does not tension the cable itself. You will need to pair it with hardware like our Rod Turnbuckle (https://sa-materials.com/p/1-4-inch-threaded-rod-and-swage-stud-for-3-16-inch-wire-rope-stainless-cable-tensioner/)  or Threaded Cable Tensioner (https://sa-materials.com/p/swage-threaded-stainless-cable-tensioner-used-on-3-16-inch-cable-railings/) . We also have a number of other tensioners you can checkout as well. A good Cable Cutter Tool (https://sa-materials.com/p/3-edged-cable-cutter-tool-8-long-for-1-8-3-16-steel-wire-cable/)  should be in your toolbox as you head off to install. We recommend using a tool that’s made to cut cable, other tools might flatten the ends making it difficult getting them into fittings. To fasten your cable and fittings together, you’ll need to have a hand swaging tool on site too. We have a 24″ Cutter / Swager (https://sa-materials.com/p/steel-cable-crimper-cable-cutter-tool-for-1-8-inch-and-3-16-inch-wire-rope-fittings/)  that performs both tasks. Always double check your measurements before cutting and swatching because those things can’t be undone.

3/16″ stainless steel cable will also be needed to use with this swage terminal. If you’re putting up a cable rail, we recommend using the 1×19 configuration. It’s easy on the hands, gives off a nice shine and is more rigid so you don’t need as much tension on your whole system.
