T316 Stainless Steel End Wire Rope Terminal for 3/16″ Cable

This wire rope terminal is a great tensioner option for cable rails. Some of our previous customers have used them on both ends of their runs for a uniform look all around. It’s also smart to have a cable rail tensioner on each end if you’re dealing with long runs or systems with turns / angles. They are made of type 316 stainless steel so they won’t rust, even if you install them on the deck of a beach house. You can used them on indoor projects and out. Most have used this wire rope terminal with metal and aluminum posts.

Instead of using these tensioners on both ends, you can pair them with a cable anchor terminal. Two popular anchor options would be our Dome Head (https://sa-materials.com/p/dome-head-end-cable-rail-fittings-for-3-16-inch-cable-swage-t316-stainless-steel/)  and Stud Fitting (https://sa-materials.com/p/stud-cable-railing-end-fittings-for-3-16-inch-wire-swage-t316-stainless-steel/) . While you’re prepping for the install, make sure you’ve got the right tools ready to go as well. There are two specific tools you’ll need for sure, first being a good Cable Cutter Tool (https://sa-materials.com/p/3-edged-cable-cutter-tool-8-long-for-1-8-3-16-steel-wire-cable/) . It isn’t wise to use a grinder or anything not meant to cut wire rope – if you do, it might result in flattened / uneven ends. Anytime you look to install swage hardware, a hand swaging tool is needed to secure the cable and fittings together.

Be sure you have 3/16″ cable to use with this wire rope terminal – Any other size won’t fit or crimp correctly. Out of the different configuration options you can choose from, we recommend 1×19 for those installing a handrail. It gives off a wonderful shine, plus it’s more rigid so you don’t have to put as much tension on the overall system.
