Type 316 Steel End Swage Terminal for 1/8″ Cable Railing – Left Hand Thread

This swage terminal is a great end fitting for cable railing systems. They are made from type 316 stainless steel. Due to their top-notch material, you can install them outdoors and in humid climates without experiencing rusting. Seeing build-up on the hardware over time is common and if you use a simple steel cleaner they’ll clean right up.

It is a tensioning swage terminal so you can use it on one or both ends of a run. If you’d like to use this threaded tensioner along with a regular cable anchor on the opposite end, we have a handful of options for you. First we have our Angle Stud (https://sa-materials.com/p/angle-stud-cable-anchor-for-1-8-inch-wire-rope-type-316-stainless-steel/)  terminal which is completely hidden once installed within metal or aluminum railing posts. If you want anchors where you can see just a little bit of hardware, we have our Stud (https://sa-materials.com/p/stud-cable-end-fittings-for-1-8-inch-wire-rope-swage-t316-stainless-steel/)  and Dome (https://sa-materials.com/p/dome-head-t316-stainless-steel-cable-end-fittings-for-1-8-inch-wire-swage/)  head terminals. For those using wooden posts, Stemball (https://sa-materials.com/p/stemball-swage-cable-railing-end-fittings-for-1-8-inch-wire-rope-t316-steel/)  swage cable railing end fittings are ideal.

To do an install, you will need to have a durable cable cutter tool on hand. Be sure your tool is meant for cable because if it isn’t, you might end up with flattened / uneven ends and that can complicate putting them into fittings. This is a swage terminal which means you’ll have to essentially crimp the fitting onto cable. Here a special hand swaging tool will be needed. Each fitting should be swaged 3 times to get a good solid hold.

Choosing the cable you’re going to use on your wire railing is important as well. These fittings require 1/8″ cable but you still have to choose which configuration you like. We think the best looking construction is 1×19. It’s also the option that isn’t rough to the touch.
